Art Basel Miami at The Raleigh
Art Basel Miami is here and the entirety of the art cosmos is on a pilgrimage to meet up, represent, and make deals, but above all, to celebrate in a rather hysterical commotion. There is an endless list of high-profile events during these four days in December and countless hotspots, but one of them, potentially the epicenter, is The Raleigh Hotel. This grand dame of South Beach was successfully revived by Andre Balazs a few years back before he sold it to focus his efforts on his Standard hotels brand. The property was recently sold again to none other than Tommy Hilfiger, who plans to build a hotel group around the iconic Art Deco pearl (some say he intends to turn the property into a private club, in which case it would be wise to get a glimpse of it while you can). Getting a glimpse is what many people might have tried at this year's opening party, a collaboration between Jeffrey Deitch & Hilfiger, featuring a special performance by Miley Cyrus. In case you decided not to attend, we recommend proceeding to the pool area and enjoying one of The Raleigh's delicious sandwiches, or an expertly crafted classic like their Moules Frites. This may be the best spot to cast a disparaging glance at those worn out after hour guests making their exit. PK
